Week 53 - ONE Year One Happy Phelpsy

Hey everyone!! This week just flew by! Fam, I hope you're having a good time in Canada. Send me a few of those treats, eh? ;)

WE DELIVER BREAD AND PEAK THROUGH YO WINDOWS

This is the funniest thing ever. we were visiting those less actives with my favorite member in the world! And, before we would visit, we would just stop at a 7-11 and the member bought just heaps of bread. And this one family wasn't home...and we had just so much bread...So what do we do?? Or actually...what does the member do? She just opens the window right open and just starts yelling, "KONNICHIWA!! (5x)" And then when we finally decide that no one is home...sooo we just open their door and put the bread neatly on their table so no poisonous animals get to it. I like how things are done here in Japan 😂

MINAMI

So the same day we are peakin through windows...this member (Nakamura Shimai) is like, "well...let's go eat some pasta!"

*calls place...and they don't answer*

"ok, well lets go eat some rice!"

So we go to this Japanese restaurant and while we are eating...this waitress comes up to us...recognizes our tags and says, "HEY I KNOW YOU GUYS. you are missionaries!!!"

That almost made me fall off my chair!! I was like, whhaaaatttt??!!

It all happened so fast but she was like, "I have to go, but my name is Minami and this is my number!!"

At this point, I'm really dying...right? That seriously never happens. Also by this point our members jaw is on the ground and she keeps saying, "Kamisama!!" (which means 'God')

We leave an English flyer for her and she COMES THE NEXT DAY TO THE CHURCH. I'M DYING RIGHT. (but it gets better)

I start talking to her, we become bffs in like 2 seconds and then the member (Nakamura Shimai) just walks on in! (she was at the church for institute).

Nakamura Shimai just asks her all these questions and Minami just opens her whole heart up to us!! Turns out she met the missionaries when she was in high school, she was best friends with them, they gave her a Book of Mormon, and she started taking the lessons with them there...and then she moved to Tsukuba because of college...lost contact with the missionaries....and BOOM. we are here.

You guys.....I FOUND ANOTHER FRIEND :))

also, Nakamura Shimai just whips out the Book of Mormon (the second Minami said she had one) and shares her favorite scripture with her. Isn't that sooo cute????? :')

Another funny/memorable thing that happened this last week was we were teaching this less active at her door step, right?? And I look over to my companion and she is just white like a ghost! I quickly wrap things up and we leave, right? well Sister Van Pelt just runs to her bike and starts peddling away without me right? I'm just like..."wut?" I start biking as fast as I can to catch up to her, and she just runs into the nearest 7-11 and starts puking her guts out!

That didn't make me feel all that great 🤤

She comes out and was just like, "man. I almost threw up all over that lady."

It's just hotter than hades!! We are melting everywhere we go! And gettin sick everywhere we go too 😅

ONE YEAR

YOU GUYS. I HIT MY YEAR MARK THIS LAST WEEK. CAN I JUST SAY....WHATTHEHECKISTIME. I wanted to be cool and burn something, so I grabbed a pair of tights i don't like and lit them on fire :)

I gotta say, it wasn't as cool as I thought it was going to be. Maybe it was because I didn't have gasoline. lol

But seriously, the best and happiest year of my life. I couldn't be more grateful for this experience. It has truly changed everything for me. It has changed my present and it has changed my future.

YOU GUYS...THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IS TRUE. We have the happiest message there is. There is no doubt in my mind. :) I am grateful I can be apart of this my whole life. There is a missionary name tag painted on my heart, and it will be there forever.

But hey, don't get too excited....I still have work to do these next 6 months!✌️

Last pday was the beeest. We went with a member on the best adventure ever. we went to Costco :') And we took a cable car to TSUKUBA SAN!! The view was breath taking. Holy cow. Lots of pics will be coming soooon :)
