Week 41 - If You Don't Like it... LIKE IT!

こんいちは!! 🍙

みんな元気?

TEMPLE PDAY

My favorite day. I am so grateful for the house of the Lord. The peace that I feel when I'm inside, definitely out weights anything the world could offer! It was also such a happy day because I saw Sister Gorner! :') She was my MTC companion, and it was the first time I've seen her since we got to Japan!! We hugged for like 10 mins straight I swear haha!

We also got to meet a sister missionary's parents! She finished her mission this last week, and her parents took us out to lunch! It was so fun!! Her mom really reminded me of my mom...and it was so weird haha. I was like..."oh, hi mom! Glad to see you. When did you start doing your hair like that??? You like red lipstick now??" 😂 it was crazy! Haha

On temple Pday you can go anywhere in Tokyo....DANG MY FAV. TOKYO IS STRAIGHT UP THE COOLEST PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN. My heart will always be here in Japan. 😊

ELDER CHOI

This week we had a member of the Seventy come to our mission! Elder Choi spoke in General Conference! His talk was called, "Don't look around, look up!"

But we got to spend all day with him and he just spoke. Holy cow. The spirit just spoke right to my heart. It was an experience where there was no doubt in my mind that my Heavenly Father knew who I was. And that he loved me. I cried basically the whole time. I had the opportunity to bare my testimony in that conference, and I don't remember what I even said...but when I sat down, Elder Choi said, "Sister Phelps, I knew you were going to stand up." He really is a chosen servant of God. The spirit spoke to the both of us!!!

He also taught us this: If you don't like it...LIKE IT!! He is so cool. That's my new life motto. Haha

The famous quote from his conference talk was,

"Go out in the rain, look up to heaven, open your mouth, and drink it! When you look up, you will be strengthened to open your mouth to everyone without any fear.”

My mission president liked that so much that now it is now a mission rule to sing hymns and primary songs in the shower. Not even kidding. Haha! Im just so excited to shower everyday! Am I right?! Haha

神の子です (I am a child of God)

We went to visit a less active family this week (the Sena Fam) and the kids are all 12 and younger. (There are 5 kids.) And when we got there, we had the prompting to sing "I am a child of God" with them before we started. That was honestly one of the happiest moments on my mission. Picture this:

A family of 7, two white giants (us), and another member....in a 2 room apartment....all singing 'I am a child of God'. SO CUTE. RIGHT? My heart was so happy. The spirit just filled that whole room. I love being a missionary:')

When I am a mom, I am singing that song with my kids! :) fam goals.

FOUND ANOTHER FRIEND

I have never seen so many miracles in my life. This area is exploding. We found 4 investigators yesterday, we have 8 families in our teaching pool, we have 41 mission school students...and I'm basically dead. When I first got here...the area itself was was dead! We had no body! But now...Holy cow. We have so many friends:)

We found "PanPan" last night and she said that she wanted to be taught that same day!! She is 19, and from Mienmar. (No clue how to spell that)

We taught her on the Tsukuba University campus, in front of a water fountain! We taught her about God and Jesus Christ. And that was her first time (ever) learning about him. I bore my heart solemn witness that I KNEW He lived. And that He loved her. and I'm not even kidding....during the lesson her countenance changed. I swear she was literally glowing. The light of Christ people!!!! It's real!!!!

She told us that when she got to Japan..she had no friends. She felt so alone. And all she wanted was to feel happy. And then we found her. She is someone I know I needed to find! "I found another one!"🐟

We are going to set a Baptismal Date with her at our next lesson! :)

I gave my very first talk in sacrament meeting yesterday! The Bishop called me the night before :')

Don't you love it when that happens?? :')

The cool thing was though, there were some people from the stake visiting, and one of the girls was deaf! So in my talk I was able to bare my testimony a little bit in Japanese sign language! It was so cool!!

He also asked me to sing in sacrament meeting that same day...haha I don't know....but I think he got the 'sing in the shower' memo?? 😂 I didn't even get to practice properly! 🚿

本当にみんなさん、ありがとうございます!

私の家族に心から感謝しています。友達も本当に感謝しています。:)
